Next generation science standards supported in a fun, nature-based, hands-on outdoor learning experience!
General Information:
Location: 6800 Hubbard Road, Clarkston, MI 48348
Age: Ideally suited to kids ages 5-11
Focus: Camp Wild is a unique, popular and award winning summer program that has been successfully engaging young people for almost a decade. It is directed by Chelsea O'Brien, B.S., an experienced and certified environmental educator as well as founder and executive director for the Clarkston Family Farm. Teaching team also includes naturalists, artists and Camp Counselors selected from trained National Honors Society CHS students and aspiring teachers. Great camper to teaching team ratio of no more than 5 to 1. We also employ activity station leaders and junior camp counselors for the most safe and engaged program available for your young explorer! Our teaching team pays special attention to dividing campers into color groups based on age, parental preference and developmental appropriateness. Groups are carefully organized and have never more than twelve campers per group to allow for our "move and do" approach to learning! Each 5 day camp session is an exploration of the following themes: Wonderful Wetlands, What's Under Our Feet, Marvelous Meadows, Fantastic Forests, and Getting Our Thumbs Green.
Activities include: Each day campers will enjoy games, art, a make and take craft, some type of snack or tasting, and music; as well as "sneaky science" and language arts... supporting thinking and learning in ways that are fun and always outside in nature.
Dates/Times/Costs: There are 6 great camp sessions to choose from:
Camp Wild about MUSIC: *NEW* June 30th - July 2nd 9 a.m. - 2:30 $190.00
Session 1: July 21st - 25th 9 a.m. - 12 noon $185.00
Session 2: July 28th - Aug 1st 9 a.m. - 12 noon $185.00
Session 3: August 4th - 8th 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. $300.00
Session 4: August 11th - 15th 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. $300.00
Camp Wild about ART: August 18th - 22nd 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. $320.00
*Please note that Sessions 1 & 2 are HALF DAYS - morning only. Sessions 3 and 4 are longer and include afternoon enrichment like cooking labs, tie-dying a Clarkston Family Farm T-shirt, garden yoga, more involved animal interaction and extended art projects. Camps Wild about MUSIC and ART are also full day camps, which employ standard Camp Wild programming, with a focus on music or art, respectively. The the new Camp Wild about MUSIC is a 3 day camp, the rest are all 5 days.
Drop off and pick-up: At our Learning Pavilion (behind the Sunflower Market). Most of our time will be spent outside in our many kid-friendly farm and garden spaces.
