An award winning summer camp program presented by the Clarkston Family Farm!
Sensory Exploration in Nature using the sense of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing
General Information:
Location: 6800 Hubbard Road, Clarkston, MI 48348
Age: Ideally suited to ages 3-6 years (must be potty trained) Age exceptions for siblings may apply.
Focus: Sprouts Camp is a week long summer camp experience for our youngest learners, that is based on our award winning Camp Wild summer program. Like Camp Wild, Sprouts Camp has been successfully engaging young people for almost a decade. Sprouts Camp utilizes our Sensory Exploration in Nature curriculum and highlights the 5 senses (focus is on exploring one sense each day). It is directed by Chelsea O'Brien, B.S., an experienced and certified environmental educator as well as founder and executive director for the Clarkston Family Farm. Teaching team also includes certified teachers, master gardeners, farmers, naturalists, artists, and camp counselors selected from trained National Honors Society CHS students and aspiring teachers. Great camper to teaching team ratio of no more than 5 to 1, and many times will be 3 to 1 with our youngest learners. We also employ activity station leaders and junior camp counselors for the most safe and engaged program available for your young explorer! Our teaching team pays special attention to dividing campers into color groups based on age, parental preference and developmental appropriateness. Groups are carefully organized and have never more than 15 campers per group to allow for our "move and do" approach to learning! Each day of Sprouts Camp highlights a different sense: Monday - sense of sight, Tuesday - sense of hearing, Wednesday - sense of touch, Thursday - sense of smell, and Friday - sense of taste.
Activities include: Student directed self exploration and nature hunts, baby farm animal interaction, tasting and harvesting stations, music, art and movement using the sense of smell, taste, touch, sight and hearing.
New this year to our half day Sprouts Sessions is the opportunity for your camper to stay for the afternoon as well. We are hoping that this will provide more flexibility for all campers/families, but still allow for a half day session for kids who prefer them. The morning sessions will provide center based learning and themed activities. The optional afternoon (FULL DAY) includes time for lunch (brought by campers), read-aloud time, trail walks, baby farm animals, games, self-directed (but always supervised) play, cooking labs, discovery zones, and rest time if needed or desired. Note that afternoons are optional.
Cost: $165.00 Half Day / $350 Full Day
Dates: There are 2 sessions to choose from:
Session 1: June 15th-June 19th
Session 2: June 22nd-June 26th
